I’m turning Japanese, I’m turning Japanese, I really hope so.
This is not about judo, but is more specifically, that I hope to be emulating the population of the Japanese island of Okinawa, as they have the highest average life expectancy of any population across the world. When scientists investigated they quickly picked up the unique diet of the island. One of the most popular foods, regularly eaten by nearly all, and in place of rice, was that of a purple sweet potato. Upon further analysis it turned out the active chemical groups were anthocyanins and anthocyanidins, which at least in the lab are proven to reduce the growth of cancer cells. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4609785/ – section 3.5). So where can I get these miracle chemicals?? – They are not just found in the purple sweet potato, but are responsible for the red, blue and purple colours in most berries, fruit and vegetables. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5613902/).

So breakfast this morning was a glass of purple juice (beetroot, blackberry, blueberry), with black grapes, a handful of blueberries and a black plum. I’m a convert – well I’ve never been much of a veggie person, but fruit I can handle. It reduces cancer growth in the lab, and you know what – right at this moment – if it just has a placebo effect, I’m good with that too.
A Word of Caution
I should add some caution to my recommendation. Don’t wear white while drinking, or opening purple smoothies – accidents occur. Also don’t have a moustache – it acts as an accident catalyst.
