Monday was Zara’s first A level exam, I dropped her at the station and wished her well and let her know that Clare and I would be thinking of her. To which she replied “Well, that isn’t going to do anything”.
Not long now for me. 0700 Sunday I arrive at St Mark’s, 0930 into the theatre (hopefully they are not showing a drama). Performance ends about 1300, then slow wakey-wakey until early evening. Monday is when I’m fully awake again.
Then 4-5 days of watching a live edition of ER and Casualty. Then back home for 4-6 weeks of annoying Clare, followed I suspect by various cycles of chemo.

The lawyers have been extracting cash while I’m alive – actually getting married would solve many of the problems, but the law as it stands favours gay couples (civil partnerships). They were discriminated against for decades, or even centuries, and deserve equality, but the government needs to provide equality for all! So the lawyers get a wedge of cash now, to save the Inland Revenue getting more cash later. That is the price to pay for believing that you don’t need to be married to live happily together as a family. – Rant over. (…and I know a lot of lawyers, they are all good people).
I continue to eat and drink Purple (see my Purple post), the aspirin stopped a week before surgery (don’t want to be bleeding to death), but I continue with Ibuprofen (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15756426). It isn’t all necessarily locking the door after the horse has bolted, as it could help slow down the spread.
And now – everything is in order.
Had my pre-op assessment yesterday – weight, height, medication, blood test.
The mustang gearbox is in – thanks to an afternoon under the car with Stu.
The girls now know – which was a huge anti-climax – maybe it hasn’t sunk in yet.
For the hospital stay I have some classic films to watch, including the Dollars Trilogy.

But, I think the recovery at home will be the biggest challenge, I can never sit still – there’s always something to do – in the garden, around the house, on the cars, etc. I’ll need to try not to do too much – don’t want my guts popping out.
Thanks all for the best wishes, I know many of you will be thinking of me. I appreciate it. However as Zara said – “it isn’t going to do anything” – this time it’s down to the surgical team and me.
Yes and you still owe me a second non-rushed pint for that so stop arseing about and get fixed pronto. I shall happily drive us to the pub, albeit in one of your shiny motors of course in case you catch something nasty from my old banger… thoughful as ever!
Don’t let him fool you about purple food and being all wholesome now, he mentioned having a beeRtroot juice earlier which I think shows he’s not entirely convinced about the new diet.
